Education Associates: Dental Specialists (External Quality Assurers)

£350 / day (pro-rata) (this rate is likely to increase in 2025 to c.£600 / day pro rata)

EduQual is currently seeking dental specialists to work with our Quality Assurance team as External Quality Assurers / External Examiners (EQAs / EEs), becoming one of our specialised Education Associates. There will also be opportunities to work with EduQual’s Qualification Development team.

As an EQA specialising in dentistry and / or dental hygiene, you will work in support of EduQual’s Quality Assurance Manager (QAM) and the Director of Quality Assurance (DQA). Your main role will be to moderate (externally assess) Learner evidence prior to certification of Learners, focusing on EduQual-approved Centres that are delivering EduQual dental Qualifications and / or EduQual-endorsed customised courses in dentistry.

Support and training in External Quality Assurance will be provided by EduQual, and for interested Associates, additional training in qualification development (and credit rating) will be made available. Once per year, you will also be invited to attend an online standardisation training event with other specialists.

About you

As one of our dental specialists, you will hold one or more appropriate professional qualifications in dentistry. You might also:

• Be a practising dentist (or retired)
• Hold a tutor / assessor position at an accredited HEI, or possess experience in a similar role
• Be based in the UK or overseas

Essential skills and experience are:

• One or more appropriate professional qualifications in dentistry
• Demonstrable IT competence in varied formats such as MS Word, MS Excel, use of databases, and those applications related to the maintenance of records
• The ability to work well with others and as a member of a team, demonstrating cordial and responsive interpersonal skills as a valued member of EduQual’s friendly and supportive team
• The application of analytical and evaluative skills
• Excellent written and spoken English and proven problem-solving skills

Highly desirable skills and experience are:

• Knowledge of the vocational qualifications market in terms of delivery, award and commensurate regulatory requirements
• Demonstrable understanding of the assessment, verification, moderation, and award processes
• Prior experience of working as an examiner or external quality assurer
• Clear and effective presentation skills
